Cecilia Beaven is a visual artist currently based in Chicago, where she is pursuing an MFA in Painting and Drawing at SAIC as a Fulbright fellow. Her work is mainly developed around drawing and painting and she has a particular fascination for murals and big scale projects, maintaining always a graphic structure. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honorific Mention from ENPEG, La Esmeralda in Mexico City. Her art work has been shown in group exhibitions and art fairs in Mexico City, Oaxaca, Tijuana, the US, Colombia, Sweden and Italy; and she has done solo exhibitions in Mexico City and Houston. She was part of the project Scribe Billboard, winner of a Cannes Lion. And she was commissioned to paint a segment of the border wall between Mexico and the US in Tijuana. She has painted murals in Mexico City, Oaxaca, Pachuca, Tepoztlan, Tijuana, Houston, Paris and recently she painted a temporary mural in Chicago for Hosteling International as part of the MLK Mural Competition.
